O My Gosh!  I am not sure what happened to me. I think I was on the edge of a serious mental break down this last couple of months.

I can list a million reasons why I have stopped running/ working out but they are just excuses I am sure.  I looked at myself yesterday and the day before that and that, and asked myself what the heck I was doing and today I decided I better change it.

I am amazed at how fast all my hard work went right down the drain. I thought the whole time I was running (Really running) I was not seeing any diffrence and now if I could just go back to what I looked like and felt like a couple of months ago I would.  It was a big diffrence.

I made a good choice to get back on my treadmill today. I was sad to see how much slower I was. My lungs did not like what I was doing and I could feel my butt bouncing. (It acually did not do that before I stopped running.

I ran 2.05 miles in what I normally run 3 which was in 30.42 minutes.  Seriously I will be stiff tomorrow that is the sad part.  I am going to start eatting better again as well. I hope this time is a go and I can keep it up.  This month is going to be just about as busy as the last two but I hope not as stressful.

I will find out if I am going to be closer to adopting my baby boy and if that goes bad I hope to at least feel better about myself so I can hold it together.  On a good note we have a date to adopt our other boy. Finally it has taken 4 months to get the paper work all back together.

I have been waiting for you to get back into it. I am glad to see you back on the boat. Life is crazy and we sometimes lose our grip on things but you can always start and gain back what you lost and get in the best shape of your life. Just know this is for you and to make you a happy and heathly mom. Good luck in the new year you will do great.

Good luck with the adoptions! Hope it all works out.

From kt on Wed, Jan 02, 2008 at 16:08:58

thanks for the support and for looking out for me. I know you posted a coment to me about a month ago asking where I had gone and I could not find the words to tell you I had no energy left in me. Or what ever was wrong with me. At that point I think the new medication knocked me for a loop.

For some reason I missed something that you went through and or was wrong with you. It seems you have alot of drive and courage. I wish I could be more like that.

I was a little stiff yesterday so I did not get on the treadmill, but I was fine today.

I decided my goal was 4 miles no matter how long it took me because that was my average before i gave up.  I was on the treadmill for 67 minutes but I did it.  I did have to take a few phone calls while I was on and I can't hear and walk fast at the same time for some reason.

I thought I would take advantage of the defrosted road and try running out side.  I have no idea how you all run out side as much as you do and don't slip and fall.  My lab came with me and fell 3 times. I am sure I would have if I would not have been watching my steps so closely.  It was all clear and then all the sudden patches of ice.

My husband was suprised I cam home dry and not complaining of falling.

My lungs did not like the cold air when I was breathing hard.  I made it home in 23 minutes.

It's not easy at times that is why I do my harder runs on the track or treadmill. If you can do a treadmill when it is really nasty outside. It's not worth sustaining a sprained ankle like I did had one year.

I have the worst church time now that the new year has rolled around. 2:30, so i decided I would get in some  treadmill time. I think that if I skip days I may get out of prctice again.

I have some small shin splints today so I walked .25 then ran .25.  I just had a goal of 40 minutes today. I read that 30 minutes maintains weight and 40 and more will help you lose weight. I thought I would push it to 40. I was done at 30 today but I have not slept good the last two night and I am so tired.

Thanks for your suport guys!

If you are getting a shin splint allready you probably need new shoes or your shoes are to small. They need to have a thumbs width between your big toe and the end of the shoe. Ice after your workout and see if you can get your husband to massage them out as deep as you can stand. this will help and do it everyday until you can't feel them anymore.

From kt on Sun, Jan 06, 2008 at 22:08:31

I have pretty new shoes and they are a size 8.5 and I wear a 7 or 7.5 depending on the shoe. I am blamming the shin splints on running outside. I didn't have them until Saterday and it was a short run, but alot of uphill and down hill slops nothing flat. Also I was so worried about slipping I think I may have been running really stiff.

How many miles should I have on my shoes?

From josse on Sun, Jan 06, 2008 at 22:26:05

The size should be good. It could have been the differant terrian. You should be able to get between 600-700 miles out of a pair of shoes, more if you switch them with another pair.

I had a crazy busy day yesterday and never made it on the treadmill, so I tried to make up for it today.

I ran my first two miles in 23 minutes and I stayed on the treadmill for a total of 39 minutes. not close to my best time but I felt good about it.

I am going to try to start back at the gym tomorrow.  (I hope)

I finally made it back to the gym today. I have not been sleeping well because my baby gets so sick at night so i was proud I even made it with the little sleep I got last night.

Wednesday After that huge snow storm I went out and shoveled my drive way and side walk into one big pile then about an hour later me and my 4 year olds went out and I shoveled half our frount yard into the pile. I made a snow cave big enough for them all to fit in. I think I was out there for a total of 2.5 hours.

Yesterday I could not move, my back was so stiff. Still hurts today but I think it is the muscles from shoveling and throwing it high on top of the pile.

Because my back is so stiff I did the acr trainer for 30 minutes 1.60 miles and then Did a couple of easy weights and a few cruches (Not many because my back) Then I got on the bike for 35 minutes and went 6.25 miles.

I had some extra energy tonight so i decided to get on the treadmill. I acually had my best run since being back. I ran my first mile in 10.24 min's and then my second at the 23. something min, and then I walked slow for a couple of minutes to cool down. I feel good!

I love playing in to snow with the kiddies, that's what we did too. But I didn't stay out as long as you did. I don't have that great of outdoor gear, jean and a hoodie. but we did make a snowman and some snow sculptures.

It is fun when you start feeling good on your workouts. Just keep with it and you will feel better and better.

From kt on Sun, Jan 13, 2008 at 22:19:33

Y aI don't have snow gear either. I was out in workout pants and a hoodie with knit gloves. I was warm from all the shoveling I was doing. My poor kids don't either because I have so many at the same age and it dose not seem worth it, so they had socks on there hands and when they got cold they would come in and get a clean pair. Needless to say I had a huge pile of wet dirty socks when we were done. (But we had fun)

I did 4 miles on the elliptical today in 40 minutes. I felt like I pushed my self seeing as I wanted off at 30 minutes.  I went and worked my abs and then the day care came and got me because my baby was poopy. By the time I had him cleaned up my time was up so I had to cut it short.

I ran my three miles in 33 minutes today and then I walked .50 on a high incline for a few minutes. I can't help but kick myself when I think how much farther I would  be if I would have kept with it the last few months.

I felt good other than my fingers feeling numb and my throat burning.  I was right next to the double doors in the cinema room and I could feel the wind blowing in.   O and the bottom of my feet were on fire when I got off. They felt really tender. (Not sure if that is normal) I am beginning to think maybe I do need new shoes I have not even had these one for a year yet.

I worked my abs just a little bit because they hurt from yesterday. I am not sure if  the abs are something that can be worked everyday. I have heard both ways. My abs need worked on more than any other part of me.

I did two arm and back machines. I have this dying erge to hold on to the treadmill when I am running and I think if I strengthen my upper body more maybe it will get easier.

I had 30 minutes left so I got on the bike and rode 5.05 miles.

I have a friend who is a personal trainer and her theory is abs every day! I wish that I would listen to her and do it, or at least weekly... they need it more than any other part of my body! I also have a friend who is a physical therapist that says you can always improve running by strenghtening your abs, so I guess I just talked myself into more regular ab work, hope I can stay comitted to it!

From kt on Wed, Jan 16, 2008 at 16:13:59

I was doing abs everyday before I stopped for a couple of months. I did not think I saw a diffrence until now. I was doing 5oo crunches on the ab roller everyday and then this twisty weight machine and like 30 legs lifts on an ab bench. All that and I still could not do a full sit up. I have not been able to do a sit up since I had my first baby. It was a c-section gone really bad and I was opened back up and had to heal from the inside out. It took like three months to heal shut. I don't know if that has anything to do with it but it really sucks. No matter how hard I concentrate and tell myself to sit up I can't do. Maybe your friends would know something about that.

Thanks for clearing that up up for me tho.

From Sasha Pachev on Thu, Jan 17, 2008 at 12:10:31

I've tried working on abs before, and got them to improve significantly. Absolutely no detectable change in running.

My body seemed so tired today. I also ate a small salad about an hour and a half before the gym and I kept getting a bad side ache. I ran my first 2 miles with some walking at first.  I tried running after walking for a bit and my shoulder kept cramping up.    I was watching a good movie so I decided just to walk at an incline and fast pace. I did a total of 65 minutes.

As I was streching the day care came and got me once again and said my baby was poopy. I changed him and had about 15 minutes left so I ran out and did some abs before I had to get my kids out of the day care.

I have had the hardest time getting to the gym lately so I do my best to get on my treadmill.   I kept saying I was going today and then one of my kids would distract me some how. I finally got on in the middle of cooking dinner. I set the dinner timer for 10 minutes and so my goal was to run  a mile in 10 minutes so I could stop and put the food on plates. So I ran it in 10.25. after I got my kids dinner to them I got back on and ran another mile in 9.45. Then I had to run to the store for my husband. Well I did walk .25 miles to cool down before I got off. Not the best workout or my first choice but I got it done. Yey,

So I went to the dentist today right before the gym.  I was ot thinking when I planned my day.  I had a filling in my very back bottom tooth. I was numb form my ear to the middle of my lip. It is 5.5 hours later and I am still slightly numb.

I thought running was a bad idea seeing as I could not feel my face and I was afraid I might bite my toung off.  So I did the arc trainer for 30 minutes but I put it on resistance of 5 which goes up to 30 pound weights so my legs were tired. I spilt water down my mouth every time I drank any thing, so i went to the abs and weights. I worked my abs really hard and then I did some leg weights.

I think next time I go to the dentist I am going to go for the no numbing. I have only ever had a couple of fillings and I don't remember it being that bad.

My goal today was to get 3 miles done as fast as possiable because my baby will sleep for a couple of hours some days and 20 minutes others. My husband is out of town all week long and the gym can't get all my kids in at the day care at a good time today.

So I ran my three miles in 31.30. I was going to walk until Tallon woke up from his nap but I paused the treadmill to get the twins train out and when I got back on it would not start.

Just my luck!

I have not slept well the last two nights and I think it caught up to me today. I got on the treadmill at the gym and relized I had put on my old running shoes. I thought I would give them a try anyways (they have no padding left in them.)  My legs were so tired I just wanted to go home.

I went and got on the elliptical and it was a mental talk the whole time just to stay on it. I made it to 20 minutes but it was a slow pace.  I did 1.65 miles on that.   I felt really weak when I got off so I sat on the floor and streched for a minute, then went and worked my abs.  I did one leg machine and two arm weight machines and then I got on the bike and went 5.36 miles in 30 minutes.

I am glad I made it through the work out with out just stopping and comming home like my body so wanted to.

I ran/walked for 28 minutes I kept getting the worst side ache. I kept thinking if I could get my side ache under control my legs felt good, I could have ran much longer.

I worked my abs and did 2 leg weight machines.

Then I got on the bike for 30 minutes.

I did shovel snow again last night for about an hour and a half. I am shoveling for two at this point my neighbor is an older lady and her son normally shovels, but not lately.

VENTING! So I made a huge batch of jerky all day yesterday. I cut up all the meat (It takes forever if you want to get all the fat off) I marinated it until about 5pm then I put it on the dryer. I stayed up late to take the first batch off then I got up early to take the second batch off. (It was so good)

Well today when I got home the dog had got out of her kennel/crate. Yep she ate it all. I could kill her. She comes in lately because of the cold but has learned to head but the door on her kennel. She turns on the water facet out side and leaves it running. This is acually her second indoor kennel because she figured out how to open her other one. I wish she would put her brain to better use. I will never get another dog after this one.

So after a crazy busy week. Snow shoveling, bowling, adoptions birthdays, my little job.

I thought I would have a horriable day at the gym today but I suprised myself. I finished my three miles in 33 minutes. I worked my abs and then rode the bike for 30 minutes.   I felt good!

I have more good news!

I went to court today and after sitting in a room and talking with the bio-mom of our baby (The placement we have had for the last 8 months) She signed over her rights. We are clear to adopt him. The first date is in May but he is basically ours. So my family is set 4 girls two boys. I would have never guessed in a million years. It has been a long emotional road.

All the more reason for me to acomplish my running goals. (For all the heart ache this last year and all the joys)!

I felt much better running this time around. i ran my first two miles in 21 minutes three in 34:00. And then I walked really slow for a while.

I finally got my blood work back from my second doctors opinion, because I am always so tired and I get sick so much. I had mono a year and a half ago. My blood is still showing that I still activly have it. The doctor said my antibodies to it or something is really high which indicates my body is fighting like crazy. He is going to try b-12 shots to get my energy and imune system back up.

I am hoping that I will be able to break through this wall I keep hitting.

Other than feeling very tired I had a good little jog on the tredmill. I ran my first two miles without stopping finishing in 22:00 and then I finished three at 34 minutes and then I walked for about 5 minutes.

I worked my abs and then I got on the bike and rode for 30 minutes. (This is when I read)

I have to share something funny.

I was rubbing lotion on my little 4 year old boy (He has really dry skin) He said "Mom you are giving me a sun burn" I said how am I giving you a sun burn and he said "Because I am your son and you are burning me" Now everytime he see's the lotion he says please don't give me a sun burn again.

I will never look at sun burns the same way again.

He also asked me when we first told him he was our son if that meant I was his moon.

Pretty cute kid.

I woke up today at 3:30 and I could not fall back to sleep.  At some point around 4am by 4 yr old boy came in and said he had a bad dream about his beding and could not sleep in his room. So he got in bed with me and once he stopped moving around and fell asleep he began to snor. Not some little cute snor a loud man snor.

It was about 5:30 when I decided i may as well get up and get the gym out of the way.  I made it to the gymall dizzy and almost sleep walking/driving.  I drug my self onto the treadmill and was suprised as I got little bursts of energy. I ran off and on for the entire 4.30.

Then I worked my sore abs. Lifted a couple of arms weights and then I rode the bike for 30 minutes.

As I was walking out of the gym I made a mental note that I should do that more offten and that I felt really good.  And then I walked my sweaty body out in the freezing air.

I don't know about everyone else but I could not beleive the mess of snow when I woke up.  I shoveled I path for my daughter to get on the bus and then I started on my drive way. About an hour later I went out to finish the job, and saw my neighbor was very  stuck, so me and two other women pushed her out.  I decided I should shovel her drive way so she did not get stuck on her way back in.  Then I felt bad for our neighbor, she is single and older so I shoveled her drive way. Then I finished mine.

By the time I was done I could not bend over one more time, but I was not watching the clock, and when I got back in the house it was to late to cancle my gym appointment(daycare). So I rushed around got ready and left. Much to my amazment I ran 3 miles in 31 minutes.  (one of my best times)  when I got off the treadmill I was thinking k I'm done but decided to do my abs. I didn't get very far with that because they are so sore.(but it felt good to lay on the bench) I am reading a really good book right now so I decided the only way I would get any of it read today was if I got on the bike. So I put half the weight on that I normally do and took off. 30 minutes later I was shoked to see how far I had gone. I was at the peak suspense in my book. When I got off the bike my legs were so jello. I have done alot of streching since I have been home.

In case you forgot who I am ...I'm Sarah Pachev, the wife of Sasha...who owns/started this whole crazy blog. :)

I live in Lehi. I would not say I am amazing. I would like to think most people have it in them to do what I do. We are all amazing in diffrent ways.

I would be up for meeting. Just don't expect me to meet you, run and talk all at once. I am not there yet :)

I do remember who you are! You and your husband had a good impact on me when I first joined this blog.

From sarah on Sat, Feb 16, 2008 at 11:43:28

All amazing people say they aren't amazing...I guess I just really appreciate people's different talents and stand in awe of things I'm not willing to do myself. I just admire you and try to be around people I admire. I guess I wasn't thinking about running together because I usually go at 6 in the morning around my block....not something most people think of as fun. Maybe we could just have you and your family over for dessert on Sunday. (we can't do dinner with friends until warm weather because our kitchen is small...we do however have a large deck that acts as overflow for group dinners when it's warm enough to eat outside)

We don't use any white sugar but I still can make all sorts of yummy desserts. Would you like to come tommorrow or would another Sunday work better for you?

I just read alot about people from the blog getting together and running together and talking. I always just think "I have to concentrate on breathing to hard"

As far as comming over. I don't get out of church until 5:30 and then we come home and eat dinner. So if we came over it would have to be at like 7 or 7:30.

I don't know what time you had in mind.

And any Sunday is fine. You let me know.

I have just sworn off sugar all together because I can't control myself when it's around. And to be honest with you I would not know the first thing about making a healthy dessert. I did not grow up eatting healthy at all so this is all new to me. But I would love to try one of yours. I have looked at all the recipes you posted and try my best to incorporate those into my meals.

O and are you sure you know what you are getting into having my whole family over? There are alot of us!

From sarah on Sun, Feb 17, 2008 at 11:24:56

Would today at 7 or 7:30 work for you? We'd love to have you over. I grew up in a normal American family too and have had to learn a lot. Pretty much I just look up recipes on the internet and see if it's possible to make it healthier. I use cyrstalized fructose instead of sugar.

We are going out of town the next two Sundays so if today doesn't work we'll set up something for a few weeks out.

And I guess I don't know what I'm getting into having all of you over but we have 5 of our own. There are 8 kids in the family I grew up in and I'm happiest being around a lot of people.

From kt on Sun, Feb 17, 2008 at 11:37:46

Tonight will work for us. I do like to think my kids are pretty well behaved it just seems like alot.

I grew up with three sisters but my parents split up so I was with one or two sisters at a time after the age of 12.

I don't know where you live!

I woke up stiffer than a board today and some how still made it to the gym. I thought i will run 1 mile and then get on the arc trainer or something really easy, but some how I ran the whole three miles in 32 or 33 minutes. it really didn't matter I was just glad I surpassed my goal of 1 mile.

I did a light ab workout (still sore from the shoveling). Then I got on the bike and went for 23 minutes. I ran out of time at the day care. I must have laid on the ab bench to long.

Great news!!!!!! I am officially in the 130's now for weight.  Lets just hope it keeps going down.

And o break a mothers heart! I took my twins in for there kintergarden shots today. They were so excited to be there, the poor little things were shocked when those needles started stabbing them in the legs.  It is hard to watch your babies grow up!

I do have to say tonight has been the easiest night putting them to bed since the day they were born. They are both so stiff they don't want to move.  (that will be me tomorrow)

All I can say is yeh for tomorrow I get to rest. (well for the most part)

I went to one of my clients homes today and just being there for one hour drains me. This girl I am helping right now has a court date of March 7th and I am her last playig card, so I have until then to teach her all I can reform everything I can about her, or she losses her kids.  (Forever)  I can see she really loves them and she really wants to change. It is sad to watch. I don't normally go in at the end, I go in and have four months or more to work with them, and then they have a few months to prove themselves after I step out that they can maintain.

My babies bio great grandparents came to get him today and that is giving me a nervous brake down. They are safe people but I don't know if they are smart enough to keep bio mom away.  6 more days and I will have more say and control over the situation.

So with all this crazy stuff going on I thought I better get on the treadmill so I don't sart eatting.  I decided that I was just going to walk/ run for 60 minutes. It was an easy workout. My legs are still a bit stiff  so it was slow going.

I had my running clothes on and was just getting ready to get on the treadmill when my sister called me. We rarely see each other and she wanted me to come over and play rock band with her. (playstation game) and since the kids were here and driving me crazy, I thought why not.

I played the guitar for about 2.5 hours straight. So I guess the extent of my exercise was I was standing and my fingers and forearms were working. We had alot of fun. It was a good day.  I did not get home until 7:30 and I had to feed my kids and get them to bed. It was 9:00 by the time that happened and I decided with my sleeping problems running right before bed was not going to help. (That and my husband is gone for the week).

Today my goal was to run 40 minutes without walking. I ran the first 3 miles in 32 minutes and finished the last .80 in 8 minutes.  I thought I should just go to 4 miles but my hip really started to hurt and still dose. It feels like it needs to pop but if I rotate it and try to pop it it feels like it will pop right out of socket.

I worked my abs. Then I rode the bike for 30 minutes.

With my husband beingout of town and all my kids getting sick I am having a hard time getting in my workouts. Last night I resorted to my big exercise ball. My baby would not let me out of his sight and would not sleep unless I was right there next to him.

My husband got home today! I didn't make it to the gym until 7:30 pm but I made it. I was so tired. I really didn't want to go but so far this week has been sucky so I mad myself go.

My goal at one point was just to make the first mile and after the second mile I could only go one more half. My legs felt really tight afterwards. I got on the bike and my goal was 4 miles which I finished in 22 minutes.

I ran 4 miles without walking in 42 minutes today.  The first mile always seems like the hardest.   Then I walked .25 .   I feel good although very tired I can tell it is time for my shot again.

I worked my abs (Which so far no results in that area.)  Then I did a leg machine for my inner thighs.

I stretched longer today after my run so I only had 22 minutes left so I got on the bike and finished out my time going 4.20 miles. i was so sweaty I felt dumb walking over to get my jacket on.  For some reason it felt like people were staring at me. (Little self esteem issue)

Wow Katie...that's awesome.

Well I have good news for you...I'm terrible at keeping secrets. You won't have to worry about slowing me down because I'm going to be pretty slow in a couple of weeks when we finally may be able to get together. We found out we are expecting #6!!! I'm so excited!!

That is such good new! I am happy for you. So you must not get sick if you expect to keep running. I know you ran with some of your other babies. I just can't imagin that, but I was so sick with all mine. How far along are you? I was thinking I needed to kick up my miles to 5 a day so I could keep up on Saterdays. (Less presure now:)

Then I took my baby to his well child check that was a nightmare and I am glad it is over.  I cooked dinner and then rode 3 miles on the bike. (My husband bought me an  exercise bike this weekend) He got a good deal on ksl.

You know...you are inspiring me to cross train after I have this baby. I like running but I love biking and other forms of exercise.

Thanks for reminding me of our Saturday runs. That does make me feel a lot better. I am looking forward to them and I think we'll be just right for each other until you start getting too fast for me...I was faster than my current partner for awhile but she caught up and passed me....

When I make the apple crisp I am actually terrible about measuring..like a good cook should be right? Well....maybe not but I'm rotten at that part. For the baking dish I use which I think is a little bigger than 9x13..like 10 by 14 but shouldn't make a big difference...I do this

10-12 medium apples chopped in pieces about as big as for fruit salad. I don't peel them.

2 cups oats

From sarah on Mon, Feb 25, 2008 at 23:19:03

sorry...I hit enter and it sent the comment...I hate that

10-12 apples

2 cups oats

2 cups whole wheat flour

1/2-3/4 cup crystallized fructose...or honey is okay too...just clumps up a bit when stirring.

1-2 t cinammon

2 T light tasting olive oil (I use this in all my baking but this is optional in this recipe. It tastes fine without oil.

Place chopped apples in greased baking pan or dish. Mix together other ingredients in seperate bowl and sprinkle generously over apples.

Cover with foil (the apples will be more tender but okay without) Bake at 350 for

60-90 minutes.

Tonight I baked it for 60 and then turned it off and left it in there for another 30. The apples were so tender.

From kt on Tue, Feb 26, 2008 at 17:10:43

well maybe after you have the baby we can bike on Saterday's. I really have to do something besides just run. I enjoy going to the gym but I would come to dread going if I just ran for 1.5 hours all the time. I am sure I will change my mind when I start running outside.

You never know maybe you won't slow down as much as you think you will. You are pretty consistent and you take good care of your health!

From kt on Tue, Feb 26, 2008 at 17:11:48

O thanks for the recipe! I have been craving that the last few days. Have you tried it with peaches?

From sarah on Tue, Feb 26, 2008 at 17:55:45

I only let myself make fruit desserts with fruit in season that I can get really cheap. Peaches I make into yummy peach cobbler in August and September. I make strawberry pie in April/May. Cherry cobbler in July..and then apples desserts throughout the winter. I love fruit desserts...they are my specialty and my favorite.

From kt on Tue, Feb 26, 2008 at 22:21:10

If I could ever get a time away I would come help you quilt. I need frames also, so I can't help you there. What is Ragnar?

I was thinking peaches because I have about 12 jars of peaches I canned left from last summer. They go so fast just plain so putting them in a crisp for the kids would maybe make them go farther. I have a recipe but not healthy enough to feel good about giving it to the kids as breakfast or something. They loved the apple that you made so I need to get some apples.

I got on the treadmill today thinking I need to run three miles without stopping. After my first mile I thought I should push myself a little harder so I decided I was going to run it in 30 minutes.  Almost! 30.34 still a pr for me.  Then I kept on running and thought to myself  over and over "that which dose not kill me will only make me stronger"  I think I should make that my new blog title.   So I did it. I ran 4 miles with no walking and I did it in 41:00  another pr for me. I am a little sore but It feels good that I can talk myself through something that is not really that much fun and a little painful.   I keep waiting for the day that I just love running.

I love sports wake boarding, biking, swimming, fishing, hiking.  I just wish running was as entertaining to me. Although I think the running will at least make me feel more comforatable doing the things I really love.  We have a jet boat and when other people come out with us, I always feel like everything is just bouncing around and flapping in the wind.  (very self consious in a bathing suit) I usually wear a shirt and shorts but that gets in the way when trying to wake board or knee board.  I got my pocket of my shorts caught on the side of the boat once(On the metal things on the front of the boat)  while getting in the water and got fliped around hit my head on the side of the boat and basically got my shorts ripped off.

So I am hopeing that when boating season comes around I will feel more confident and maybe I will perform better without all my loose fitting long shorts on.   I will also be running outside by then so maybe just maybe I will love that to :)

O Ya I am talking about my workout! After my treadmill i worked my abs over, and then changed a diaper in record time. Then I rode the bike for 25 minutes because that was all the time I had left.

I did not sleep well last night! Somehow three kids ended up in my bed and I got pancaked.  I feel stiff and drained today. I made it to the gym and ran .25 and my muscles in legs were just hurting worse so I decided to walk at a fast pace that was still comfortable. I did 2 miles in 30 minutes and then I worked my abs.  I did a few leg weight with lower weight on them to try to strech a little and work the parts of my legs that are not sore. I did a few arm weights and then I rode the bike for 30 minutes.

I am having a hard time with the birth mom of this baby and the grandparents, so my mind was just not in it today. I just could not find my zone.  I got home and there was another message on my phone and now I am so angry I feel like I need to go back to the gym. I could probley run at this point.

I am still trying to figure out what happened today. I was walking across the gym to go run and a trainer came up to me and started to talk to me next thing I know I am doing lunges across the floor.  So He worked my legs and abs over pretty good for about 45 minutes, then he told me everything I was doing wrong, and how much he was going to charge me to get me where I want to be.

I had 20 minutes left after that so I got on the bike.   I wanted to run but my legs were very jello like. I think I am going to be really stiff tomorrow.

I ended up telling him I could not sign up for anything right now. He wanted me to pay $99 to start and then another $299.00 for the rest of the year, and that was just to write me out a workout plan read my eatting jornal and weigh and measure me once a month.  It did not include any  presonal training.

I did think to myself as he was talking " I have the running blog that will give me tips on all that"  "and for free, and they acually care"    So thankyou to everyone who has encoraged me and kept me going.  This really is an awsome group of people.

Way to keep a level head! I don't think you need to pay all that for what he wants to do for you! The only way I would pay that is if HE were going to do the lunges for me!

From josse on Wed, Mar 05, 2008 at 18:11:03

I agree with Kim, you don't need to pay all that money. My sister had a personal trainer for a while and what to quite and they made her pay all this money to get out of the contract. I would be perfectly happy to make sure you are doing you lifting right and help you with a eating plan.

From sarah on Wed, Mar 05, 2008 at 19:48:25

yay!!! Of course we care about you here and the tips on this blog are from professional athletes..people that know running and know what they are talking about...

From kt on Wed, Mar 05, 2008 at 20:20:57

Ya when he handed me the weights and said we are doing lunges now. I said "o I hate lunges" he said thats because they are work. If I was going to do lunges for half my workout I would just do them at home. In fact if I cold get on my treadmill at home without my kids sticking there hands in the moving belt I would stay home more often.

I was thinking a dollar a day dose not sound bad but then when I saw a contract and the overall price it was a diffrent point of veiw.

From kt on Wed, Mar 05, 2008 at 20:32:03

Ok Josse you offered! What should I be doing? Most people on the blog say run, run ,run. Work arms at least once a week and work abs every day. The trainer today said that working my abs everyday will acually make my stomack gain more fat. And running will give me endurance and slow weight loss and thats about it. I know enough to know that they have to blow a certain amount of smoke to make a sale right!

As far as eatting, I still drink a low carb slim fast before I workout and that is it. I get a side ache otherwise. I know you said there is better things to drink out there but I don't know what. I do have a whey vanilla shake mix I bought at the gym but it is (yuck) I do use water to mix it! I am confused about the dairy stuff. I don't eat after 7pm except water. I cut out anything white and try to eat more veggies. Its all a work in progress! K SO give it to me:)

From josse on Wed, Mar 05, 2008 at 20:53:24

I think me you and Sarah should get together and talk. She does a great job on the diet side and I can give me two cent as well. What do the two of you think?

I definatly disagree with what that trainer said.

From kt on Wed, Mar 05, 2008 at 21:30:13

I am game:) I think in my mind I really know what I should be eatting. It is a matter of implementing it and not being overwhelmed by it. I usually have to cook for me as well as for my kids (something else) I relize that sounds dumb because I am feeding my kids something that is not healthy enough for me but my twins are so small and I feel like they will starve.

From sarah on Thu, Mar 06, 2008 at 22:21:25

I'm going to have my quilting party Friday March 14th from 6:30-9:30. Josse is invited too and we could talk about foods then. I don't know how much help I'll be with getting your kids to eat what you eat. Maybe it will just help you think of some ideas you already have floating around in your head but just haven't had time to really think about firmly. It should be lots of fun and if you don't know how to quilt I don't mind you practicing on this crazy texture quilt I made....it's all good. Let me know if you can make it.

It hurts to walk up the stairs and to stand up.  I had another doctors appointment today for my little girl so I did not make it to the gym.  I have not done much this week so I decided if I just walked really slow on my treadmill. I started off walking and it was driving me crazy so I ran. I stayed on for 32 minutes running and walking off and on. Then I stretched still felt like I didn't get enough today so I got on the bike and rode for 30 minutes. I had resistance on it up and down. I finally ran outside today. I am not sure it was a good day to tyr it out, but I did it.   I had about a half mile of  a good incline and the rest was pretty flat but the wind was blowing so hard. I kept thinking "K when I turn this corner the wind should be in my favor" Nope not once was the wind blowing behind me. I hope my time will be better without the wind next time.

I am still really stiff from the damage the trainer incured on me. I am not sure if it is better to rest or to keep running through the pain. Because today felt really good to be outside but my legs were hurting the entire time.  I could have done much better if my legs felt anything but tight and burning.

I got on the bike later to try to get my legs moving. Just to get rid of the stiffness.

My legs felt so much better when I woke up today. I decided today would be my long run for me.  Just in case tomorrow I can't do it. (But I will try)

I ran the whole 5 miles without stopping in 51 minutes.  I felt really good just tired.  Today I kept thinkng about Sarah running pregnant, and this book I read on hitler. These people ran all day and night and if they stopped they would get shot because it meant they were weak. Some of them ran right to there deaths and some were put in camps. So I kept thinking if they can do run to live then I can run to get stronger.

I worked my abs and then I did weights for the reast of my gym time.

I will do 30 minutes on my bike some time today I am sure.

Note that you got a 5 K and a 4 mile PR in the middle of that run.

From kt on Wed, Mar 12, 2008 at 15:29:39

I have no idea how you keep track of that kind of stuff. Its hard enough for me to remember my own.

Is there anything I should change in what I am doing?

my goal today was to run my first two miles in under 21 minutes (ran it in 20:20)  Then I wanted to run my third in under 31 (ran that in 30:19)  I ran the whole 5.10 miles in 51 minutes.   Then I walked for a minute.

I didn't work my abs today.  I just went sraight to the bike and was on that for 30 minutes.  I am feeling stiff but I think if I keep moving I will be ok.

I ate some peanut m&m's and some harvest chips last night. So I am hoping my hard work today will fix the damage.  I was doing so good!  (with food)

Baby finally went down for a nap.  I got on my treadmill and ran the first mile in just under 10 minutes. Then I pretty much walked the rest.  I was up half the night with Tallon and I just feel drained.  I was on the treadmill for 50 minutes. Amazed that tallon was still asleep I got on the bike and rode it for 30 minutes.

I also walked .50 miles with my 4year olds earlier today.

I have the sickest little baby and he is driving me crazy. he had a fever of 104.6 yeserday so I drove him to the instacare naked with the windows down. He had an ear infection, he is so miserable. So about noon I was getting so frusterated with just hoding him and him crying.  He would not sleep. he just wants to be on my lap but continues to cry.

So we got the stroller out and I told my other three 4 year olds we were going for a walk.  I told them this was a treasure hunt walk, so I wold not end up sitting in the park.  And it is a bit cold out so I wanted to keep them moving and warm.

I wanted to share the insight I got for them.

Kyle found a big stick on the second street we started down. He said it was his walking stick and his treasure.  We found an empty bee hive and Belle carried that for awhile and then said she wanted to put it down so the bee's did not miss there home. Abby kept picking up broken peices of plastic and asking if it was a treasure. i kept telling them there treasure was what ever they thought was special or something they could make specialbut washing it or painting it.   Abby kept giving her briken pecies of plastic to belle and she would walk with it for awhile and then drop it nd say I don't think that is a treasure.

On the third street they saw a dog panting at the edge of the yard in a fence and said the dog was a treasure but they could not take it home with us, but wanted to touch it.  Then Belle saw the pine cones. She was so excited to see these. She started picking them up and I said only one and she said but they are all diffrent. So we walked on with about 10 diffrent pinecone's. We were getting closer to the 4th street and the 5th is ours so I asked Abby if she wanted a pine cone and she said no I am waiting for something really special.

Then we came aross some lava rock and I showed them how light it was compared to other rocks and they all took a peice of that. Belle had picked up about three rocks at this point.  And Kyle dropped his walking stick and said he wanted that lava rock.

So as we rounded the corner to the 4th street. You would have thought the kids hit the jack pot. There was driveway's full of big gravel.  Some of the rocks had been spray painted because of construction.   Lets just say my stroller had about 30 rocks in it when we got home.  One of the girls said the pirates must have lost there treasure on this road becuase it was so full of them. Belle picked up two rocks that looked the same in every way and said she found some twin rocks, just like her and her sister.

They were all suprised when we walked into our driveway. They had all become so ingrossed in the task at hand they did not even reconize there own street.

So my thoughts were. If we could look at everything the way these young minds look at things. This world so full of treasures just lying around in plain sight. Just think how rich we would all feel.   How greatful we would all be for everything we have. No more lables just treasures waiting to be found and discovered every day.  A rock is just a rock unless you look at it diffrently.

I just thought how many things that this could apply to in  my life.

Well I crashed this weekend but maybe it was what I needed. I ran 5.10 in 49 minutes.( Pr in 2,3,4and 5 miles)  Then I walked for a minute.  I felt realy good other than at the end my hip started to hurt a bit so I stopped.   I did about 20 minutes of weights and then I rode the bike for 10 minutes.

Gas has gone up so much I need to start getting my butt out of bed at 5am so I can drivwe my husbands company car to the gym. (Free gas)  Or just start running outside but then I am wasting my gym pass I paid for.

I woke up a little sore today. I am wondering if this is part of the life(running) sore all the time?

I made myself run a 5k. My legs were feeling very tight towards the end.  I finished in 31 minutes. Then I walked at a very steep incline and that seemed to work out the tightness in my hips. (I know it is not my hip but the muscle in that area. )

I did 100 crunches and then I worked my arms for about 15 minutes. Then I rode the bike for 35 minutes. I like riding the bike when my legs get feeling stiff because it seems to get the blood flow or knots out.

Now I am going to work on my yard.  I am getting anxious to start planting stuff.

I had a hard time running today. I felt like I was running to fast so i would try to slow down and I felt like i was jaring my body. I finished my 5 miles in 51.45 but I walked a couple of times.   My legs are still stiff, but I worked in my yard for a couple of hours yesterday and was on my feet more than normal.

I worked my abs, then I rode the bike for 20 minutes.

Running shouldn't feel jarring. To me, that is a sign that you may be landing too heavily on each foot. Stay low to the ground, avoiding "jumping" from one foot to the next. Focus on quickly turning over your stride, emphasizing repetition over stride length. There are a lot of resources on the net that will help you with form fixes.

From kt on Thu, Mar 20, 2008 at 21:24:21

I only feel like a spaz when I run at 5.6 or slower so I turn the speed up and I feel like I am running more smooth but I wear myself out to fast.

Thanks for the info!

I felt pretty good on my way to the gym today. I thought I was going to have a good run, but I was wrong.  I got running and got tired so fast.  I walked about a half a mile after my first two miles but at a high incline.

I did some weights and then I rode the bike for 30 minutes.  I feel good other than my legs are just tired.  I don't get how some of you just run, and run, and run.

I was hoping to have the best run today. I was feeling good and ready. My husband wanted me to go to the dump with him so I got all my running stuff on and went with him. About 10 miles away from home I told him to pull over and let me out cuz I was running home. Well he pointed out that there was no where to stop or a should for me to run on, so I ended up at the 8 mile mark.   About as the truck disapeared from me I relized how cold it was and how hard the wind was blowing and just my luck it was blowing right in my face.   I did not bring gloves so my hands froze and most of my treck home was straight so the wind was against me most of the way. At one point I got some pebbles in both my shoes. Big mistake I kept going because I thought if I took my shoe off it would get more rocks in there. So I went about three miles that way. My feet felt like the pebbles had completely cut through my feet before I sat down and took my shoes off and cleaned them out. I thought my feet were bleeding. (no blood)

So it took me two hours. Its a start.  My husband was thinking that he was going to go looking for me in 5 minutes and if he didn't find me he was going to call the police. (Kind of funny) I told him  not to worry until 3 hours had gone by.

It is much more entertaining running out side verses the treadmill.

right there at the end my knee's just started to hurt right below my knee cap. It was a pain I have not felt before. I could hardly stand on my left leg.  I stretched and then went and worked my abs. I did a few leg weights that i could kind of stretch and bend my knee's.

I did 20 min's on the arc trainer.

I am now icing my knee's, they feel much better but that kind of scared me.

I AM LOVING THIS WARM WEATHER!

Take a rolling pin to those quads and roll them as hard as you can, that should help. Do it twice a day untill your knees aren't hurting anymore.

My knee's felt better today but I slowed down my run a bit. I finished in 42:00.   My right knee hurt when I was done but not at all while I ran.  The pain went away faster today than it did yesterday.  Uhgh the fans were not on in the room I was running in it was so hot and stuffy.

I used Jossie's  suggestion last night and rolled my legs with a rolling pin.  O it felt so good! I had my husband roll the back of my legs as well.  (Thanks Jossie)

I worked my abs and did a few arm weights, then I rode the bike for 20 minutes. My knee popped a couple of times but felt fine on the bike.

Got up and made it to the gym by 6am.  My run was slow and very dragging but I am not use to working out at that time, I think I was still asleep.

I lifted a few leg weights and worked my abs.  I think at that point I was awake because I felt like I could run again, but got on the bike for 35 minutes.

I am so use to a diffrent gym time that I feel like I should go again. I feel like I have not worked out today. I might go walk with my daughter later if she feels up to it.

I felt really good and was planning on doing 5 miles today and thought I could have a pr on my time again but I had an issue and had to get off the treadmil.

I just had got on the bike and had my first mile out of the way and the day care came and got me because my baby was poopy.  O he had it all over his pants on his socks. Basially by the time I had him cleaned up he only had on a shirt and I diaper so I had to come home.

I am going to try to get in at least a few more miles later.

I did 40 minutes on the bike and then I walked up hill on the treadmill 2 more miles.  I feel really good. (thats why i walked instead of ran, I didn't want to stiffen up again)

I just try to run fast to get done faster at the gym because I never know if Tallon will explode. (I knew he was going to have a blow out any minute Friday because it had been a day since he had gone.

It is very exciting to hear that little beating heart inside you for the first time, and every time after that, but it sure makes it more real. I am so glad things are going well for you.

I was blessed enough to get tickets to attend the young womens confrence at the confrence center tonight. This was the first time I had been inside the new building. It was so amazing to me.   I  had two tickets so had my mom come with me. We got there early so we sat and watched as the seats filled to the maximum compasity of 21,000 people.

It was amazing look around and see a building that big full of just young women and there mothers and leaders. So many women gathered so silent and still to hear the messages prepared for that evening.

My mom and I were having a conversation and to the sounds around us so was every other women in the building but the second the prophet walked out it went to complete silence everyone stood to honor him. There for the minute it took him to walk to his seat you could have heard a pin drop.   It remained very silent for the rest of the session. The talks were wonderful and enlightening. The choir was one of just the young women. It was like listening to a choir of angels. I could listen to the young women sing all day.

It was an awsome evening for both my mom and myself.

My husband stayed home with the kids today so I had as much time at the gym as I wanted.

I was totally let down because I felt so good and thought today would be my longest and best run. But as I was finishing the first mile my right knee (same one as before) started to really hurt again. I thought maybe I jst need to run through it.  Nope the pain just got worse.  At  2.75 I felt like I was going to really hurt myself if I continued so I stopped.   other than my knee I felt lke I could have ran at least 4 more.

I worked my abs more than I normally do and then I did a few leg weights. not as heavy as I knew I could lift (trying to protect my knee)

when I finished with that my knee felt fine, so I thought maybe I just needed to work out a tight muscle or something. I tried running again and as soon as I started the pain came back and just got worse so I stopped at .50.

I got on the elliptical and did 2 miles and then I did 1 mile on the stair stepper.  My knee felt ok on both those machines.  So I decided to get on the bike and see how that felt. I ended up doing 50 minutes on that and 9 miles.

I left the gym feeling great and bumbed that I could not run like I wanted to.

As I am home now and was cooking dinner my knee started to throb a bit and when I bend my leg I can feel a pop in the muscle right under and to the right of my knee.  I am icing both knees at the moment.

I am going to be ticked if this sets me back I was doing so good!

I was able to run a little more today before the knee pain set in.   I played with the speed a little bit when the pain started and when I was running as fast as I could run it for some reason felt better.

I did some abs and a few leg weights and then I did 15 minutes on the arc trainer set at level 6 and then I rode the bike for 15 minutes.

I feel really good other than my knee is a bit achy.

One of the twins said the funniest things to me on the way home today

She said I know why David died, I said Why? and she said" because he didn't have a mom and he didn't know how to cook so he starved to death"

They are still trying to understand his death and talk about it.  David would have even laughed at that one.

Josse scraped my leg last night and for the first 2.50 miles I thought I was home free other than my left knee felt some pain similar to the pain I have had in my right knee.  I stopped and walked for a minute and the pain went away as soon as i started to walk, so I waited a bit and tried running again I was fine for about another half and then the pain came back so I walked agian, pain went away a minute later I tried to run really slow but the pain came back right away and worse so I gave up.   The pain went away until I stepped off the tredmill and the presure hurt so bad I almost fell.   (Very discouraging) Finished in 36minutes.

I did weigh myself and that was good news! (one more pound gone)

I worked my abs, arms and stretched, Knee was sore but not bad.

I rode the bike for 30 minutes no pain then at all.

I went to Macey's in North Orem after the gym for the food storage sale, and everyonce and awhile my knee would hurt then go away.  I am icing right now.

What is the deaL?

I ran the first mile and felt great, same as it has been the right knee started to hurt and by 1.5 I stopped and walked for a minute as soon as I stopped the pain went away. I stretched for a minute and then tried again.  Only got worse.  I walked the last mile up hill as fast as I could.  42 minutes total.

It seems like just a couple of months ago I was saying I really did not like running very much, but I have kind of grown to love it and I am so frusterated.   After three days off I thought I would have a great running day.

I worked my abs really good and then my arms.  Then I got on the bike for 40 minutes.

I should have felt good on my drive home just for the fact that I worked out again after three days, but felt more like crying.

(Its the hard head in me, want to do things I can't do) I made an apointment for my kids and went anyways. I did 30 minutes, 1.5 miles on the arc trainer.

I talked to my brother in law on the phone and he asked me a million questions about my knee. I am looking forward to getting back to my regular rutine.

My first mile and a half felt really good and things got a little painful after that. I walked for a minute and then ran again. About 2.5 I was thinking I should stop but pushed through to the 3 mile mark. I finished in 34 minutes not my best time but not my worst.  Then I walked for a few minutes.   My right knee right under my knee cap started to hurt again. I was suprised because my left leg felt a little stiff in the back the last two days.    At the end of my run I noticed if I twised my body slightly to the left and leaned a bit it did not hurt as bad.

I worked my abs and did a few leg weights and then I rode the bike for 20 minutes.

My husband is out of town this whole week so i have no choice but to use the treadmill but I am hoping that when he gets back I will be able to get outside more.

I did stop at the running store on my way home to look into new shoes. (It is much closer than runners corner)  They were closed.  it was like 1:30 in the afternoon. The sign said they should be open but no one was there.    I have a flet feet by my house I am not sure if they are good at fitting running shoes.

I have had similar knee problems and was told that I had runners knee. I wrapped my knee with an ace bandage and then iced it after each run for about 30 minutes. The pain lasted about 2 weeks and now I am feeling no pain. Have you tried to wrap it when you run? I hope it gets feeling better I know how you feel being put back. I am just starting to get into running. You're doing great and I hope that the knee gets feeling better! Good luck!

I have heard they do a good job. But I would rather go somewhere I know that they will get it right. DO you need some more scraping?

From kt on Tue, Apr 22, 2008 at 20:58:51

Josse I have no idea what I need. I am going to wait until this weekend when my husband gets home and then I am going to runners corner.

I did get a knee strap and that seems to at least keep the pain in one location of my knee. (Once it started)

I was so happy to be running more than a mile today and so disapointed when my knee got to hurting again.

From josse on Tue, Apr 22, 2008 at 21:15:36

I would go and see Dr. Brady in Provo he is a sports chiro but is very knowlegable and uses alot of differant tecniques to help you get better. His # is 375-2420 and only see him.

I got on the treadmill today with the idea that slower and longer would be better than faster and less distance.  So I did the 3 miles in 35 minutes and then walked the last bit.   My knee did not hurt as much as it did yesterday when I ran.    I could have probley even went another mile but I have had a horriable headache all day.  I was ready to cancelle my gym appointment and it was to late to cancelle without being charged anyways, so I went.     I got in a pretty good workout despite my head.  Although it is much worse now.  (I think it is all for tension in my neck and shoulders)

Life is much harder when my husband is gone. (at least at bed time) I swear all my kids loose there hearing everytime he leaves, and it always seems to improve when he returns.

I did a few abs and then I rode the bike for 30 minutes.

I've noticed plenty of times when my kids ears are there just for decoration. They hate it when I tell them that. Good luck handling it alone. Hopefully it's not for long! Way to work out anyway! It's very important for mommy to take care of herself, not just the kids!

I had a really hard time with Tallon in the day care today, so it cut my workout short by 30 minutes.

I did run my first 3.10 miles in 32 minutes then I slowed down and finished the last mile by 43 minutes.     It felt really good to be over 3 miles again but I can't say that last mile was painless.   I wrapped my knee today and wore the knee strap.  I could feel the dull pain but nothing felt like it was going to pop out of place or explode.      I wore my old running  shoes and I could tell I was landing different but I can also tell they are wore out because the top part felt like there was no padding at all.   So maybe Josse was right with her first coment to me that I probley needed new shoes.  (This weekend : )

I did some abs and a few leg weight before I had to go as well.  I thought I would just ride the bike when i got home, but with my husband being gone and all 6 kids hearing loss I am beat.

I iced when I got home.

I got up early today and went and helped out at the 3 blind mice 5k. I had alot of fun.  It looked like such a warm nice day but I did freeze my butt off.

I came home at 11:00 and stayed out side until 6pm doing yard work.  I am shocked that I have seeds sprouting in my garden despite the snow we have had for the last few weeks.

I felt so good today, I had more energy than i have had in a long time.  I mowed my front and back yard, weed wacked then betwwen my husband and I went unloaded 3 bobcat dump fulls of  manure into our garden then raked and tilled it.  I will be stiff tomarrow I am sure,  but all the work paid off.  I weighed myself after I got out of the shower and I am officially in the 120's now YAYAYA!!!!!!!!

I went to see my Grandpa today, he is 88 years old and in the hospital.  He has been so active up until now and I think I took for granted that one summer he may just not be at the family camp out or that we would not be able to spend Eureka days at his house.   It hit me very hard how fast time flies and how important it is to make the most of each day with people you love.    The doctors say he is just wearing out.   As I left the hospital my grandma and grandpa both had the look on there face that I remember as I child when they only saw us once a year or so and it was time to leave.  My mom would cling to them both and they would all cry.    My mom and dad will wear out one day as will I.    I ask myself if I make the most of my time.

This is one of my favorite poems for times like this,

If I knew it would be the last time I'd see you fall asleep.   I'd tuck you in more tightly, and pray your soul to keep.     If I knew it would be the last time I'd see you walk out the door, I'd hug you and kiss you-and call you back for just one more.     If I knew it would be the last time we'd spare a minute or two, I'd stop and say "I love you,"  Instead of assuming you know I do.            If I knew it would be the last time I'd be there to share your day, I wouldn't wait until tomorrow, Letting time with you slip away.     For surely there is tomorrow to make up for an oversight, and we'll always get a second chance to make everything all right.          There will always be another chance to say our " I love yous,"   And certainly there's another chance to say our "what I can dos."      But just in case I am wrong, and today is all I get, I'd like to say I love you and hope you never forget.   Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, Young or old alike,   And today might be your last chance to hold your loved one tight.     So if you're waiting for tomorrow, Why not do it all today?   For if tomorrow never comes, you will surely regret the day you didn't take the extra time for a smile or hug or kiss. And you surely aren't to busy to grant what may be their last wish.    So hold your loved ones close today, And wisper in their ear;  Tell them how much you love them, and that you'll always hold them dear.  Take the time to say "I'm sorry," "forgive me",  or " It's ok,"  And if tomorrow never comes you'll have no regrets about today.

My husband had to leave town again today.  I am going to go crazy!  I was able to go get new running shoes yesterday. Since my husband was going to be gone again all week and I get all the kids I decided to go check out fleet feet before I drove to Orem and then had my kids running all over the place. I think they acually did a very good job.

I got my kids down to the park about noon and ran/ walked the track for 3.50 miles.  I pretty much ran a lap and then walked one for 45 minutes. The stroller I have to way to low or something.  I had a hard time running with it and even steering it, but the wind was blowing as well.  My knee felt really good so that is a plus.  I don't think the lack of sleep and added stress helps with my energy at all.   I won't get into my allergies and all the dust that gets kicked up from this wind lately.  I have a horriable cough tonight from running around in the wind.

I did get on the treadmill just so I could try a faster run.  I ran a mile in 9 minutes, and then I slowed down for the next .50.  I could feel my knee is a little sore but it seemed to make a world of diffrence getting new shoes. Or maybe it is because I have had a couple days off.

I ran my four miles in 41 minutes.(treadmill) Ya!  I hope I can start building miles again without hitting a wall again.  I had the treadmill at an incline for half of it and then upped it for my last mile.

I stretched and then worked my abs really good and then I did a few leg weights..

It felt really good to run more than 2 miles at a time again.

I decided to make a quilt for my grandpa (The one who's in the hospital)  and then I thought my other grandparents would be left out and so I decided to make one for each of them.   I cut squares all day yesterday, and my behind feels like I did mega workout yesterday.

And the pollens must be really high right now or it is my dumb dog that barked all night the last two nights so I had to bring her in but my allergies are killin me.

I had my baby go to his great grandparents home today so I got cleaning and lost track of time.

I took the kids down to the park and was able to run a mile around the track. (9 minutes.) I did not use my inhalor and my chest was getting to tight to breath, I did try walking .50 to see if walking helped but it didn't, so we came home.  My allergies are getting so bad, my nose is feeling raw  from running so much.

I used my inhalor and got my cough under control then I got on my treadmill.  I think I may have had my best times today. i am not sure.

My first 2 miles was in 18 minutes, then 28 minutes by mile 4.10 I was at 40 minutes. I slowed down at the end.  I walked the last bit up hill using weights.   I felt really good and no knee pain at all.    I did keep getting a side ache and that did not help but other wise, I had an awsome day.

It was such a nice day out today!

I worked in my yard almost all day. We are  pouring a retaining wall and cement pad in our back yard and just trying to get everything planted and looking good.

I finally go tout for a run at 8:30 tonight. I only ran 1.5 miles but it was not on a treadmill and half of it was up hill. 16.19 was my time. I started to get a side ache at the end but I turned and came home because my poor dog could not keep up and I was afraid she was going to die on me.

i got up early and went for a run. It was so nice outside! My 7 year old woke up and asked where I was going, and she wanted to ome so I let her ride her bike. She had a hard time at the end of the ride but there was a slight up hill slope about the last half mile. We did 1.50 miles. I am not shure of the time because my garmin died after about .25 miles but I felt like we went at a pretty good pace.

I went to the gym later and I got in 3.60 miles in at 33 minutes. I have not had a chance to go to the gym muh lately so I wanted to work my abs and arms. I had about half my abs done and the day care came and got me because my baby was poopy. By the time he is all hanged and i give him back it is time to go. Not what I hoped for but better than nothing.

I ran 2 miles in 20 minutes today. I felt really good the whole time. I wanted to run at least one more and at mile 2 I ran by the house and told my husband to call the dog but she kept following me, so I stopped at the top of my street and came home.

My dog has been limping for a couple months now. She has had a hard time keeping up with me on my last two runs, so I took her to the vet right after my run Saterday. It cost me $138 to find out she has ripped her acl out and will need surgery. She is 4 yrs 9 mths and healthy $2500.00 to fix her leg or to put her down.

I spent the rest of my day doing yard work trying to think of how we were supose to make that choice. My husband is ready to pay for the surgery.

3.100.000.000.000.003.10

I have ran this race since the first race 2 years ago.  My mom has participated in all 3 races as well.  We decided after the first year we would run it every year and improve our times with each run. The first one I ran in 33 minutes but the entire thing was down hill. The second one I stayed with my mom to try to help her improve her time. This year I decided to give it my all , and thats what I did.

I have had a crazy week this week and I can't say how proud and disapointed I am at the same time.  Monday we adopted our little boy we have had for the last 10 months. That was a wonderful time, but my stomack started to feel yucky as soon as we got to chilies. And basically as soon as we got home Iwas just down for the count.  Lets just say I have not had the stomack flu like that for at least 7 years. I was down until wednesday.  I lost 8 pds in those two days.

I knew I had this big race comming up so I did my best to get lost nutrients back. I felt like I was on the mend by wednesday night felt pretty good thursday and friday I had a ton of plants to plant in my garden so I got that done and was feeling a bit like my stomack issues were comming back.  I was really worried that i was going to be walking today.

After no sleep last night, I woke up feeling good and ready to go.   I decided to bring my 7 year old with me because she started asking me before bed if she could come because she wanted to be there when me or grandma won :)    I registered her and she stayed with my mom.

I was feeling so good and I was loving running through the gardens, then at about mile 2 I noticed pain in my knee again and I set it aside ad kept running. I had my garmin on and I knew i could finish good if I did not walk and with my previous knee pain as soon as I stopped and then tried to pick it back up it was way to painful. I was pretty much running and pure hard headedness by the time i hit that last little bit.  My garmin said 29.27 when I finished but the clock said 30. something. although we were pretty far back when the race stared and the timer had been going for a bit before I even went past it. They did use chips this year so as soon as the times are placed I will have to update this.

I felt a bit shaky and lightheaded but my knee hurt so bad nothing else was on my mind but that.  I tried to walk back into the garden to go meet back up with my mom and daughter but I had such a bad pain in my knee I almost fell and threw up or passed out. So I just sat down on a rock and waited.  I was so proud when I saw them run around the corner.  My mom looked great but my daughter was red as a beat.  They finished at 42 minutes or better. Very much improved time for my mom.

I tried walking around some at the end and it was not happening.  I got home had to go to a wedding and then I went to the insta care.  The doctor said that he thought I had a torn ligament in the side of my knee because I had so much give on the side of it. He said a knee is not supose to bend side ways. He said he would do an xray just to make sure but thought nothing would show up. Well turns out I have bone spures all along the side of my knee cap where the two bones have rubbed or something. He refered me on to a surgen put a huge brace on my knee so I could not bend it, gave me a shot of steroids for the swelling. (pretty puffy) he said I had to stay off of it for 1-2 weeks until I can  get in to the ortho specialist. He said they would have to have me on an anti inflamitory until the swelling went down to access things better anyways.     He basically said what I did to myself today was pure torcher and that I have had this injury for awhile for the bone growth to be that bad.

Despite this all I am proud that I made it through the week and I had my best 5k today. Disapointed becasue if I would not have had all the hurdles this week and a bumber knee I wonder what my time would have been.

Way to go KT. Me and my son (Falcon) were there. So sorry about your knee - hope you recover well from it.

Yes the clock seemed off, my Garmin had me about 20 seconds faster than the clock, also had it at 3.13 although that is close. We have run it the last 3 years. My son was disappointed they didnt give age group winners a medal although they did give him a huge bag of gummy bears for being the fastest kid (11th overall). I think the race may have been slower with the narrow winding path although it was a nice diversion from typical 5K. I probably wasnt that much ahead of you. Congrats on adopted son

Things have not been looking so promising with the knee the last couple of weeks. I went to the ortho surgen and he asked me what my main concern was and I told him I needed to get going again and could not be laid up all summer. So he gave me some shots in my knee and told me he could do that all summer if it helped and when I was ready to say just fix my knee he would look into things more throughly.

He said I definatly had alot of swelling and some blistering on my knee cap so to try out riding a bike and then go to other easy cardio then to try running but no hills at all.  he did tell me to stay off of it for a couple of more days completely.

So I have tried riding my bike. I have alot of knee popping along the way not much pain while I ride but pretty sore when I get off.

Also in the last two weeks I have been told (By my husband)  that he will suport me in my running by watching the kids but he has and never will have any interst in running. He was mad at me after the 5k because my knee was all messed up. I had just ran my best race after having the stomack flu for two days and on a messed up knee. He could not even tell me good job. Just upset about my knee. (It costs money)

Last night I was finally so fed up with everything. I put on my running shoes and I left. I ran my two miles in 24 minutes. I did walk some. It was about 9:30 and I had eatten a late dinner so I had a horriable side ache.  My knee ached about half way but not anything I could not tolerate.  It is amazing what motivation a person can get when they are finally just done and mad.

I ran the same loop as I have the last few days. It was a bit easier today than it has been and we ran it in just under 20 minutes.  I am so looking forward to adding miles and hills back in.

On another note I got the sealer from the cannery today and canned 35 cans of food. After I sealed the first can the second can got stuck and it took a good hour to get it off then it would not work. I spent 3 hours to get 5 cans done before I finally fixed the stupid thing.  I sealed 78 pouches and 70 cans today. My back is killing me.

Now that I have my food storage under control I can focus on the class I have to teach in July.  I may be on the bottom of the food chain here on the blog as far as running and eatting goes, but I was asked to teach a healthy eatting class in july. I was planning on sleeping in but loud cannons started to go off at 6:00, So I got up and got my 7 year old up and we went out. I ran and she road her bike. We did stop to pick some huge red cherries that were hanging over the fence, and we stopped to throw about 30 huge snails out of my neighbors back corrner where the sprinklers had just gone off.  I dislike snails more than any other little slimmy thing around here. They will eat a whole garden plant over night.  My legs were pretty stiff.

Then we went to our ward breakfast.  I am having a hard time with my eatting again now that it has gotten so hot.  I don't wantto eat all day then night comes when it cools down and I eat everything all at once. It is very bad.

I checked out your blog today and then I had to go, but I was going to say hi, It is good to see you are still running and keeping up with everything. You are pretty amazing.

At least you have an excuse for your eatting problem!

From josse on Sat, Jul 05, 2008 at 19:08:17

I have that same problem with eating when it is hot.

I dislike snails as well, they use to eat all my flowers I would plant in my back yard. I remeber reading some where in the dicussion forum that beer in a empty tuna can gets rid of them.

From kt on Sun, Jul 06, 2008 at 16:55:14

I have heard the same about beer, but with my dog and my 6 young kids I can just imagin what would happen.

I have been crushing up all my egg shells and using the slug and snail bait. Put getting up and getting out in the morning and just picking them all out seems to be the best.

I tinkered around to long before my run so I did not get out until 10:30. What a big diffrence in heat. It was so hot out there. I took my 7 year old with me again and she wanted to stop under the big cherry tree again. I need to work up some nerve and go ask if we can pick a bunch of them because that tree is huge and full of cherries and they are starting to go bad already and no one is picking them. (but me and my daughter on our way by)

I went to the gym after my run and worked my legs and arms, then I swam a half mile.  I thought maybe I should not count it on my cross training but decided it was just to much work not to count it.  I felt so good after the swim and all day. We even took our kids and dog down to a creek by our house and played for an hour and a half and then we took the boat out and did some late night fishing.

Well today I am so stiff, every muscle in my body hurts.

I ran 2 miles in 19.40 with my neighbor.

Ran 1.50 miles on the treadmill when I got home, and then I rode the bike for 32 minutes.

I had to run by myself today. Which I guess is good in its self because I really wanted to sleep longer and got up anyways. Its easier to skip out when you don't let anyone down or have anyone to answer to.

I was slower today than the last few runs. I ran 3.15 miles in 36 minutes and then I ran a mile on my treadmill at home in 10.   My knee is a little stiff today so I quit there.

Ran my usual loop with my neighbor. My knee has been bothering me the last couple of days. I am not sure if I need to stop again or just not increase in milage.  We did walk about a mile after our run, I am not sure what our times were because my garmin stopped at 4 minutes and it seems to just be stuck there. It won't turn off or change screens.

I have been so tired the last week I can't stand it. I had to drag myself out tonight. I felt good once I started to run but then my ear phone kept falling out and that made me walk some. Sounds dumb but I have so much on my mind right now that I needed the music so i felt ok not to be at my house.

I have a big cooking class I have to instruct on Wednesday. My husbands family was here all week and that interupted everything.   I got behind on laundry and everything else as well.

I did get my two boys I adopted sealed to me on friday and I can not describe how awsome that was.  I am a very lucky person just to have been a part of that. Not to mention I have to new family members.

I have been so busy. Matt was out of town all last week. and I took my kids camping up at strawberry for a family reunion.

Camping in a tent with 6 kids not recomended.

I spent the day today with Kyles bio mom, so maybe after a good rest tonight I will get back into the swing of things. I am gaining weight like crazy all the sudden. I need to get back to the gym. If I could just figure out how to pay for the gas.

ran with my injured dog today. Her leg still needs fixed but she was dying to get out so I brought her. I walked the creek trail when we got to that part so she could get in the water and cool off and drink. She had a really hard time keeping up with me.

I stopped at the house and locked her up and then I rode my bike 1.94 miles.

It is hot!

I took my 8 year old with me today. She can usually ride her bike the whole time, but not today about half way I had to push her bike and then we decided to hide it in some tree's and just walk.  She had a really bad side ache. It was a slow day but good time with my daughter.

then I worked my legs and rode the bike 35 minutes.

My knee seems to be doing much better.  Ridding the bike seems to maybe irritate it more than running.

My computer has been sent out being fixed for a few weeks, so I have just entered all my workouts for this month.  I have been out of the running loop for a couple months due to excessive canning, but it is slowing down now.   I have canned about 300 jars of  food items so far.

Also my twins started kintergarden and that has thrown a curve in everything I do.  They love it tho.   They don't go until 12:50 and then they get out at 3:30.   It just has taken some getting use to.  Funny how something like that can throw the whole day off.

I got up at 5 today and ran 4.25 miles in 45 minutes. Not bad I thought for as little as I have been doing lately.

I worked my legs and then I rode the bike for 35 minutes.

I probley won't be able to walk tomorrow.  I was stiff after tuesdays workout.

Looks like things are busy but going well. Why so much canning? Hope life slows down and mom can have mommy time:)

From kt on Thu, Oct 02, 2008 at 12:46:20

I am so busy but good, I have been canning alot because someone gave me a ton of jars and I have pretty much got everything for free or out of my own garden. So I may as well preserve it and add it to my food storage. I have canned as of yesterday about 300 jars of food. I keep saying I am done and then I end of with another tree to go pick or something. I won't know what to do with myself when canning season is over. Although I just have tomatoes and cucumbers left in my garden so otherwise I think I am really done this time.

Finally made it to the gym again. I thought about running out side but it was still dark and my dog can't run anymore.   I ran on the treadmill 38 minutes. I did walk some because of muscle cramps in my legs.   I was watching Iron man and wanted to see how it ended so I rode the bike for about 45 minutes.

Considering the fact that I have not run in a couple of weeks. I had a pretty good run today. I walked for a few minutes to warm up and then I ran the rest at between 5.6 and 6.  I was happy with it.  I am having a small surgery/ procedure done on Friday and I am hoping I will have a speedy recovery and then feel good enough to get running again.

Today is the first day I have felt good enough to do anything but what I had to do, Laundry ect...

I feel really good. I ran the first mile and walked the second at a fast pace. I was suprised that I could still do my mile in under 11 minutes seeing as I have not done anything in awhile.

I did a few weights and then I rode the bike.

I will keep my fingers crossed that I will feel this good tomorrow and the days to come.
